Pilot Terms

These Terms apply to the limited, invitation-only pilot of The Love Envelope, operated by Pioneer Digital Ventures LLC, an Arizona limited liability company. They describe the pilot available to its invited participants. They do not announce a public App Store launch or promise that planned features are available. See our Pilot Privacy Policy for information handling and choices.

1. Your account

You must be 18 or older. Keep your sign-in credentials secure and report suspected account compromise. Pairing requires the other person's acceptance, and you can have one active partner at a time. You are responsible for having permission to upload or share the content you provide.

2. Your shared space

The pilot includes scheduled letters, shared plans, a date jar, relationship dates, photos and memories, and private notes about your partner. Ordinary shared plans and planning notes can be edited by either partner. Either original partner can remove ordinary shared plans or photos. After a relationship ends, ordinary shared history remains available for reading and removal, without new edits. These ordinary items have different rules from sealed letters.

3. Your content

You retain ownership of your content. You give us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to store, secure, back up, transmit and display it solely to operate the service for you and your intended partner, and to handle the specific support, safety and legal circumstances described here. That permission lasts only while we hold the content for these purposes. It grants no permission to sell your content, use it for advertising or train models on it.

4. Sealed letters and opening

Sealing counts as completed delivery: a delayed-access copy is delivered to your intended recipient, while readability waits for the letter's opening conditions.

Once sealed, a letter is delivered to the intended recipient and cannot ordinarily be retracted through the app, including after a breakup, block, or account deletion. Love Envelope may restrict, preserve, or remove content in limited safety, legal, account-security, or technical circumstances.

Once sealed, you cannot ordinarily edit, replace, reread or export the letter before it opens, including when you wrote it. The app asks for a separate confirmation when you seal.

Mutual letters require both original participants' sealed contributions, the scheduled time, active accounts, presence in the same opening session, and each person's opening key. There are no advance keys or automatic mutual opening. An incomplete scheduled exchange needs a new opening schedule. The mutual opening window is seven days; if it expires unopened, the letter stays sealed in the Archive and later opening requires both original participants' approvals.

A surprise stays hidden from its recipient until the server unlocks it at its scheduled time. Only the intended recipient can then open it. If it moves to the Archive unopened after its seven-day window, that recipient may open it there. Making a letter readable and a person actually reading it are separate events.

Either participant may request mutual deletion; it completes only if the other approves within seven days. Silence, decline or withdrawal deletes nothing. Completed mutual deletion revokes both participants' access and schedules removal. Clearing an eligible archived item from your own view is irreversible for you and does not delete your partner's copy. Never-sealed drafts remain editable.

Blocking or ending a relationship does not retract sealed letters or itself open them. Deleting an account also does not retract delivered letters. See the Pilot Privacy Policy for recovery, finalization and the current limits of automated cleanup. A copy deliberately downloaded after opening is outside the app's access controls and deletion workflows.

5. Around us and Google Maps

The optional Around us feature displays Google Maps features and content. Their use is subject to the then-current versions of the Google Maps / Google Earth Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.

Searches cover the Phoenix area and are limited during the pilot. Search only for places or activity categories; do not enter personal or sensitive information. Information and prices may be missing or change. Confirm availability, prices and suitability with the venue before travelling or booking. A displayed price is not a guaranteed total for two people. The pilot does not book venues or process purchases. Google access can pause when the pilot allowance or its time limit is reached. You can continue adding plans manually.

6. Safety and support

Do not use the service for harassment, threats, stalking, impersonation, unauthorized access, illegal content, malware, sexual exploitation, sexual content involving minors, or non-consensual intimate content. The service is for adults only. You can use the app's reporting and blocking controls and contact us about a safety concern.

Submitting a report authorizes designated personnel to review that specific reported content and related information as necessary to investigate. Staff may not browse unrelated letters. Support access is restricted, documented and limited to relevant content. We may restrict accounts or preserve or remove content for a legal requirement, credible safety threat, verified account compromise, unauthorized sealing, serious abuse or a serious technical defect, including duplicated, corrupted or misdirected content. Ordinary regret, embarrassment or a breakup is not a reason to retract a sealed letter.

You can contest an account restriction by contacting us. Where practical and legally permitted, we explain the reason. Account restriction alone does not delete sealed letters. This is not an emergency service.

7. Service availability, liability and responsibility for misuse

We work to provide a reliable service, but do not promise uninterrupted availability or that the service will be free of errors or data loss. Except for the commitments expressly made in these Terms and any rights or guarantees that applicable law requires, the service is provided "as is" and "as available."

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Pioneer Digital Ventures LLC is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses arising from use of the service, including lost profits or business opportunities. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, or any liability or consumer right that applicable law does not permit us to exclude or limit. These limitations do not change our stated privacy and security commitments or the letter-retention rules in section 4.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to reimburse Pioneer Digital Ventures LLC for reasonable losses and costs arising from a third-party claim caused by your deliberate unlawful misuse of the service or your infringement of another person's intellectual property rights. This obligation does not apply to the extent the claim results from our own breach of these Terms, unlawful conduct or negligence. We will notify you of such a claim and will not agree to a settlement that creates an obligation for you without your consent.

8. Governing law, disputes and the iOS app licence

For disputes between you and Pioneer Digital Ventures LLC concerning these service Terms, Arizona law applies, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the parties submit to the courts in Arizona. This does not remove any mandatory consumer protections or right to use another court that applicable law gives you. You may contact legal@theloveenvelope.net about a dispute; doing so is not a condition that prevents you from exercising your legal rights. These Terms do not require arbitration or waive participation in a class action.

Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement governs the licence to the iOS application. These Terms also govern the account and letter service provided by Pioneer Digital Ventures LLC. Nothing in these Terms overrides a mandatory requirement of Apple's standard agreement or rights provided by applicable law. If the two agreements conflict on the application licence itself, Apple's standard agreement governs that licence.

9. Changes and contact

We will identify updates with a date and version. Material changes require notice and any acceptance required by law. Publishing this pilot policy does not silently record a new acceptance on your behalf or change an existing sealed letter's rules.
